Product Line Manager -- Graphite Electrodes and Graphite Shapes 

Key Responsibilities 

Product Line Strategy & Market Leadership 

Own the commercial success of the Graphite Electrode & Shapes product lines (margin, market share, growth). 

Set strategic direction based on industry trends, customer feedback, and competitive analysis. 

Drive lifecycle decisions: new product introduction, improvements, rationalization, or discontinuation. 

Customer, Sales, and Marketing Team Partnership 

  • Support sales by identifying product solutions, providing technical expertise, and attending customer visits and product trials. 

  • Work closely with sales reps to understand customer needs and ensure product performance in the field. 

  • Maintain CRM activity through visit reports, opportunity tracking, and market updates. 

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to establish and update product information and sales toolkit content for sales team members. 

Pricing & Financial Oversight 

  • Establish and maintain pricing strategies by monitoring costs, supply/demand, and competitive dynamics. 

  • Track product line profitability, analyze cost structures, and implement margin improvement opportunities. 

Supplier & Vendor Management 

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and manufacturing partners. 

  • Lead commercial negotiations with suppliers, including pricing, volume commitments, quality specifications, allocation, payment terms, and contract conditions to protect margin and supply continuity. 

  • Partner closely with purchasing, logistics, and finance to align negotiated terms with operational execution and financial objectives. 

  • Travel to supplier sites as needed to oversee quality, secure supply, support negotiations, and evaluate performance. 

  • Evaluate, qualify, and onboard new vendors to support growth, reduce supply risk, and improve cost competitiveness. 

  • Monitor supplier performance and market dynamics to proactively renegotiate terms or adjust sourcing strategies as conditions change. 

Product Development & Innovation 

  • Collaborate with R&D, engineering, and operations to improve existing products and develop new solutions. 

  • Stay informed about emerging materials, technologies, and design innovations in the market. 

Planning, Reporting & Internal Collaboration 

  • Create and execute annual goals aligned with company objectives (sales, margin, product initiatives). 

  • Contribute to demand forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning efforts. 

  • Communicate cross-functionally with logisticspurchasing, and marketing teams to ensure alignment. 

Qualifications 

  • 5+ years of experience in industrial manufacturing, iron/steel, or refractory applications (operations, sales, or technical). 

  • 2+ years in a leadership, product, or business management role preferred. 

  • Strong knowledge of EAF and LMF operations and materials used in high-temperature environments. 

  • Experience managing product margins, cost structures, and supplier relationships. 

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and critical thinking skills. 

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, remote environment. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CRM/ERP systems (NetSuite a plus). 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English. 

Work Environment 

  • Expected workload: 40+ hours a week depending on project deliverable and customer needs. 

  • Home-based office with regular travel to customer sites, vendor locations, and internal meetings. 

  • Travel Required 50-70%. 

  • Reports to the Vice President of Technology
